ABOUT US

Gyro Beach Board Shop was established in 2013 near the shores of Cadboro Bay in Victoria BC. Stand up paddle boarding (SUP) was taking off and Victoria’s best urban beach at Cadboro-Gyro Park was an ideal launch site. Fast forward nearly 10 years and our humble shop has now tripled in size. We are excited to promote other exciting water sports such as paddle surfing, wing foiling and skimboarding. Always women-owned and inclusive, we look forward to getting more people out to enjoy the amazing waterways that surround us.

As a follow-up to a long career as a physical therapist, Sam realized her dream of running a surf shop. With a lifelong passion for the ocean (swimmer/triathlete, lifeguard, surfer) she took the plunge and leased space in a 1948 building. The growing interest in water sports activities inspired an expansion in 2022 to include a larger showroom of retail products and an online store.  We welcome you to peruse our shop in-person or on our website.  We are now shipping products throughout Canada. Give us a call should you have any questions and don’t forget to drop by for a visit when you are in the neighbourhood!

Brands We Love

Products worth their salt

Gyro Beach Board Shop is proud to support companies who share our commitment to protecting the earth and ocean environments. We are now selling surfboards and paddles made with Bio-resin, organic surf wax derived from tree sap instead of petroleum by-products, and neoprene products fabricated using limestone. These are just a few examples of the initiatives seen today in the water-sports industry. In our 10 years in business, we have witnessed and applauded the manufacturers who have eliminated plastic packaging in favour of eco-friendly alternatives. We love to showcase local companies, artisans, non-profit organizations, and Canadian Pacific Northwest businesses whenever possible. As we head into our 10th year of business, we are grateful to the community of Cadboro Bay and city of Victoria and visitors from all corners of the world for keeping us afloat.
